Hi all, we've just purchased our first caravan a Sprite Quattro 6beth FBB. We bought it know there was some damp at the bottom of the front window. How ever after our first weekend away realised the damage was alot worse than first realised. Anyway I took it upon myself to fix the damage and removed all of the damp and replaced with new batten, plywood and window seal ect. This surprisingly whent better than I thought given the amount of damp and rot that was there. How ever I seem to be falling at the last hurdle! I can't get the blooming window back in to the rail!!

Taking it out I just lifted it up past horizontal and will abit of a wiggle it came out. However doing the same to refit it I just doesn't seem to be going back in.

Any advice would be appreciated being out of everything thought could have gone wrong with this project. This is the most frustrating hurdle.

Hi, Glad you have fixed your damp. To fit re fit the window it slides in along from the side along the hinge bar which will need end stop removing and stop piece/ screw by window you’re fitting which stops it sliding along the rail when fitted in place. If you have a small window at the side of the one you’re working on this will need sliding out first. Also if the window is recessed you may need to remove hinge bar plastic trim to get at hinge bar screws then remove some from the end and towards your window and prise bar carefully away to give just enough room to slide window past the recess. Having said and done if you have had damp issues it might be worth removing hinge bar completely and resealing that also. To get it back in without sliding it in you will need assistance because you need to lift the window vertically spray with WD40 and hook it back into hinge bar, being careful not to force it as this could break the window. I am assuming that the aluminium hinge strip is still on the window. Rather long reply but probably easier than it sounds Don’t forget to seal hinge bar if you do need to loosen it. Good luck nearly there !!!
