Hello can someone advise…I currently have sky + and shortly going to sky Q. Now I understand I have to change my lnb - if anyone can recommend which one but my main problem is a use a current cable that has 2 connections but my caravan input only has one in the battery box which means when I currently use sky + I cannot record a second channel whist watching but that doesn’t bother me. But I still get full sky working ok. But will sky Q work in the same way with only using one feed and the second one just being redundant

the current single input as you call it is simply a co-ax socket from the days of analogue tv! if you want to use sky, then your going to have to bring your box along with you from home, because your caravan just isnt set up for it

Marg6 is correct, Sky TV in a caravan needs a Sky box, viewing card, and a clear line of sight to the south east to get the signal. I.e nothing to block it, trees, buildings etc. You will need a quad lnb.

Sorry I don’t think you understand I currently have sky hd in the caravan and I have a single satalite feed into my van from the battery box which comes out inside behind the tv in the lounge . Cable must travel through the van. The current sat cable from my lnb has two feeds but I only use one as I only have one feed as above. This means I cannot record something else when watching as I only have one feed but it works- question is will it work if I change to sky q only using one feed. And if it won’t what can I do to the one feed at the battery box end etc. perhaps a splitter so two feeds go into one ? But I have no idea

You need 2 separate cables for sky Q, they carry different signals one carries a vertical polarised signal and the other a horizontal polarised signal, there is a work around using a different type of LNB.
See here:

i feel its you thats not understanding either of us, like i said that "feed" is from the analogue days, i think perhaps the vans previous owner had the pole type antenna i described earlier on another post. the socket in your battery box just made it easier to plug in the arieal from the outside, and then run the cable to a permanent position in the caravan to another socket situated there. i seriously doubt that any of it was done for using with digital tv of any sort or type

OK, sorry. The Sky Q box has 2 connections. You will need a quad lnb and a cable with 2 connectors at both ends. Otherwise as before. Obviously you need to take the Q box and card with you.

We have a satellite dish on our caravan and you cannot use Sky Q in the caravan if it was geared from Sky+HD. Besides the LNB, software has to be updated etc and the current PCB may not be capable.

However the good news is that you can take your Sky Q card from home and use it in the Sky+HD box in the caravan. Works the same as if at home.

I'd also say you need to be aware of the T&C's for use of your Sky viewing card I know someone who mentioned this to Sky about using their box and card in their caravan and had their card blocked as Sky T&C's explicitly state that the viewing card can only be used at the registered address.
It put me right off using my old HD + box and have never tried the Q box but know that the Q box needs a wide band LNB on the dish and unless you have 2 feeds from the dish you will only get half the channels.

Never heard of that happening to anyone and we have mentioned that to Sky probably on more than one occasion. Not sure why they would want to lose money just because someone uses their card at a holiday home? We have been using a Sky card away from home for the past 20 years with no issues.

Sounds more like one of those friend of a friend's uncle's nephew stories. LOL!

Sky Q terms and conditions do stipulate that Sky Q must only be used at the account holders address, but that doesn't mean it won't work elsewhere.

not a friend of a friend or an uncles nephew story it was a friend of mine and if Sky are letting you get away with it fine.
I was just warning that worst case scenario this is what Sky can do they basically cancelled his subscription for breaking their T&C's might have been a jobsworth that he spoke to who knows maybe the guy he spoke to was having a bad day.

It would be interesting to know how Sky knew...so they mentioned it to Sky? Some folk are too honest for their own good.
