Hi I've just purchased a Adria Adora 612DT Rhine 2016 does anyone or has anyone fitted a Fiamma XLA A frame bike rack to there van ,as I want to know if this product fits correctly Thanks

Have you tried the Fiamma website or even the Agent Fiamma website? There is a guy at Agent Fiamma who seems very knowledgeable on most things and he could likely help? These bike racks tend only to be suitable for caravans (nearly all European) with longer A Frames, I would image the Adria probably fits into that category?

Major concern with bike racks on A-frame is NOSE WEIGHT on hitch/tow ball!

Bikes are heavy and very far forward of axle on an A-frame, before investing/fitting one, ensure you can achieve safe/correct nose weight for your tow vehicle/tow bar/caravan hitch (whichever has the LOWEST figure, is the MAXIMUM nose weight permissible!).

Certainly with my caravan (Lunar) if I could fit a bike on A-frame (very unlikely with a short A-frame!), I'd NEVER be able to get my nose weight down to required figure! I struggle even with a lightweight gas cylinder and no bike!

I've used one for our two bikes ... caravan is a Sterckeman ...

Works very well.

Have to juggle a bit with nose weight, but always achieved a towable result.

Worth reminding people that UK caravans are generally not suitable for such racks because the A Frame is too short. With the longer A Frame common on European caravans there is a slightly different dynamic regarding nose weight. As Kelper suggests there may be some requirement to experiment with nose weight as there would be if you were putting bikes on a rack on the back of the caravan which is also quite common in Europe.

I have a very short A frame (just under 90cm from locker to the very front of the hitch -Trigano 340) and assumed one wouldn't fit but noticed some of our continental cousins had them fitted by their dealers.

The Fiamma XLA pro is designed for caravans with shorter A frames and I was able to fit one. From what I can see insitu, it accommodates this in two ways a) by having a gap at the front b) the frame is raised above the hitch frame. This reduces the chance of issues with the handbrake or frame. There is a stabiliser bar at the front which some dealers move to the rear to give additional clearance.

You do have to be careful with nose weight and clearance for tight turns.

We had an Adria 542DT which had a long A Frame which we very successfully put the Fiamma XLA Pro A frame bike rack on. We no longer have the caravan, but the bike rack is still in the shed. I really ought to get round to putting it up for sale. We took the plastic fairing off the A frame and it clamped beautifly, after a bit of jiggling to get the rack in the right place so you could still open the gas locker and not interfere with the tow hitch. You do need to remember when reversing that reversing round corners might impact the towcar on the bikes on the rack.
