Hi, Can anyone offer some advice please? Am looking to buy a used caravan at the lower end of the price spectrum, budget of up to £10k

The challenging part is I'm 6'4 (193cm) so need an island bed or a big bed.

Would only be for my wife and I, plus our 2 labradors, so 2 berth is ok.

I have a Ram 1500 and regularly tow a large boat so no towing limitations.

Many thanks in advance for any help or opinions shared!

to get an island bed you are going to have to look at 4 berth caravans, of which there are plenty of them around, you are best going to dealers and just having a good luck at layouts LEAVE YOUR WALLET AT HOME! your only looking for now, try to imagine living in the on the worst of the rainy cold winter days, then after that you need to make absolutely sure it hasnt got damp issues by taking a damp meter and checking absolutely everywhere. make sure that you see everything working fully

We have an Autosleeper Nuevo Motorhome, the bed is across the MH (using the bench seats) & it’s easily your length. I’m sure you’ll find a caravan bed that suits you.

UK built caravans all seem to have small fixed beds. 6ft 3in if you are lucky. You could look around for a German built caravan like Hobby or Hymer etc that generally have 6ft 6in fixed beds.

Otherwise you will have to use a made up dinette bed sleeping across caravan with generally 6ft 6in length or more. In your price range you should find a double dinette caravan ie dinette at each end & keep one made up all the time so you have a fixed bed.

I'm 6'4" as well and haven't had a problem in several caravans. Worst was the fixed bed which I found too narrow for us both. I've always coped in a small world by being expert at ducking doorways etc and sleeping slightly folded or slightly diagonally across a bed.

Our last caravan had a 6'2" long single which I found OK.
