Returned to our van today to find awning collapsed with heavy rain and wind. The material is fine but all poles either bent or broken. I have a trigano Adriatic 2015 size 12 awning. Any advice please. I can't find the poles anywhere. Do I need to get a complete new awning. Absolutely gutted not having much luck with caravanning. Thank you
awnings generally will mix and match each other, take a look on ebay there will be plenty of pole sets on there, where people have changed over to a carbon set of poles they then sell the steel ones. i am 100% certain you will find something that fits your awning
You “returned to the van today”, so I take it that it’s on a seasonal pitch? Some sites have a rule that you take the awning down when you leave & some don’t. I’ve seen someone hastily bundling a collapsed awning into a caravan then driving off, I assume the site phoned them; but I’ve also told site staff about a collapsed awning & they’ve just shrugged, so the owner will find out the way you did.
Hopefully your insurance goes towards a replacement.
It's a seasonal pitch we go every weekend. So our awnings have to come down the end of October. No one told us. We just found it like that when we returned. Was devastated. It's our first time on a seasonal pitch we thought it would be easier than keep putting up the little awning every Friday and taking it down on a Sunday. I can't see where I'm covered for a awning but it's worth a try . Thank you .
We had a dorema awning some years ago which held so much water during a storm that we had to hold the roof up to remove pressure, we sold it on and bought a trio awning with 5 roof poles.
Be nice to your insurance company. If they will not pay because it in not covered ask them nicely for help sourcing poles. They might know a supplier that they use when paying out on a claim.
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
