Hello
We have parked our caravan lots of times at Tebay north on the M6 including a couple of times in May and June this year.Generally we have not had too much of a problem although Tebay never seemed to 'police ' the caravan space and cars and smallish vans etc. were often in the spaces . I would have rated the caravan provision as 'adequate '
The situation has obviously changed .At the end of October this year we pulled in only to find the caravan spaces had gone .
We were directed to a raised ares to the right of the farmshop .We could see there was no space there and carried on to the service road to the Westmorland Hotel ..There was already a caravan parked there and I pulled in behind and parked off the road on what appeared was a gravel area for parking .We used the facilities at the farm shop and returned to the caravan .We were unable to manoeuvre on the road .I had to go up the service road to a T junction to turn round as there was no other way back to the northbound M6 .
Needless to say I'd now rate the caravan parking provision as non -existent .
Anyone had similar experiences? I'd like to hear what other people think before writing to the Tebay management.

Thanks

Go for it if it will make you feel better.
Problem being a lot of Caravaners take u the parking spaces and use the toilet/wash facilities before returning to the outfit for a refreshment and not spending anything in the shops or cafes.
That puts caravans well down the list of priorities I'm afraid.

Thanks for the response .
I understand the point you make .However many caravaners also spend money in the cafe /farmshop as we do and Tebay is expensive .
The other key point for me is that the service areas are there to provide rest as well as as refreshment A caravanner driving whilst tired is very dangerous and it's about 40 miles to the next services going north on the M6 .

Has anyone tried to stop at Junction 38 Truckstop with a caravan? It is just before Tebay and run by the same people who run Tebay. We always use Tebay so it is disappointing to hear that they have taken away the caravan parking. I have emailed them to ask if Caravans can use the J38 Truckstop as it might be a viable alternative.

Used Tebay northbound for the first time in Aug this year, I was quite impressed with the ease of caravan parking, although as said it was a motely selection of vehicles that shouldn't have been in the bays, so sad to hear it's gone! .... where do the HGVs go then?

The services themselves were lovely, and the food excellent, even a inside seating area that accepted dogs, BUT I still need to park the caravan, and if that's now not catered for or difficult, then that particular services will be scrubbed from my potential stopping points!

There is Truck Haven, just north of Carnforth, if you come off at J35 of the M6.

Plenty of free parking, (just validate your token at reception when leaving.

It is set up for lorries, so you do need to stop you vehicle, and climb a few steps to insert the token, so not so good if you aren't nimble.

Good basic grub and reasonably priced. We regularly use it if travelling north.

Don't quite know what that has to do with the parking in the main car parking area. Confused.com

I think that is at the services, but haven't used it. A tad too close to the M6.
