Hi there Rob - First let me say I am so-o-o impressed that somebody actually wants me to tell them something - cool! Love this site.
We usually set off from our home near Junction 28 on M25 around midnight, (sometimes an hour or so later dependant upon how much shut eye hubby's managed first). Then we stop at a services after a couple of hours, (not terribly good at remembering names of them I'm afraid -old age and all), where we have an hours kip, cup of coffee out of the flask and the required tiddle before setting off again. Then we usually stop again a couple of hours later, anywhere handy will do and same routine then don't stop again until we get to Exeter services, (impressed? I know that name of that one!), where we have breakfast and plan to arrive on site just outside of Mevagissey at about 10am even though our pitches are supposed to be available until noon, most people have vacated them much earlier. The site we go to also has a 'holding field' just across the road anyway so no trouble if your pitch isn't ready when you arrive.
Only thing I have to suggest is that if you're a light sleeper like me, it's a good idea to take a pair of those eye shade things like they use on planes as I do find the ridiculously bright lights in the parking area way too bright to be able to sleep at all otherwise. I also in sure we've got a cushion and fleecy throw for each of us too as it gets pretty darned cold in the car at night even in the height of summer. And a few sheets of kitchen roll more than useful to dry my face with after a quick sluish in the loos, (well not actually in the loo obviously - wash basin!), and those little instant tooth cleaning pad things that slip on your finger otherwise you just feel crappy! We usually find that we arrive on site feeling quite bright and ready for the setting up fiasco.
Hope both yours and our journeys go to plan and that you enjoy the night driving thing, we do. Just hate those grumpy guts without caravans or trailers giving us the evil eye.
Less than 36 hours to hols and counting......
That sounds like an even longer journey, 12am (ish) arriving at 10am
That's 10 hours!! Think I'd rather be tucked up in bed! LOL
