Hi

Our caravan has a Maxol Monte Carlo 2000 oven which does not heat up properly.  It's ok to warm things through but does not get hot enough to cook with.  Can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks

What size of flame are you getting.  It sounds like you are not getting a full flame/flow of gas.  could be a duf thermostat in the oven.  Ours went the other way, it would burn most things.  Dealer swapped it, a right pain by all accounts.

A warm welcome, no pun intended, to the UKCS by the way.

Hi SMCD and welcome to UKCS. I would suggest that your thermostat, as Mark suggested, is up the shoot. I tend to use my oven infrequently because I feel it uses so much gas, but when barbequeing, it's great to keep things warm.

I have the same problem. We have a 1989 Swift Corniche. Have just fixed the grill as it was only firing on one side, but now the oven isn't working properly. We have cleaned everything out but the flame is very small on the burner. Have cleaned that also. Took it off and lite the gas and it goes up and down, but put the burner on and its back to square one. Took over an hour to heat my already cooked casserole at weekend whilst friend had lamb chops and Yorkshire pud (mind you their van is brand new.

there have been threads here before about said ovens, from memory i think the remadies were either clean burner, check thermostat or make sure that the supply gas pipe isnt clogged with sludge. there is always the obvious "is the gas bottal full". we got had on that one a little while back...

Hi all, I've found over the years with this model Oven, the main gas feed pipe from the oven gas valve to the burner rusts inside, thus creating particles which move along the pipe and block or restrict the orifice in the injector, 9 times out 10 if the pipe is removed and cleaned or replaced as well as the injector it cures the problem, the procedure involves removing the oven so you have to break the gas seal. Probably best left to a qualified fitter.

I have the same oven in my van and found it works far better off propane rather than butane, if your not already using propane try swapping to it.
