Hi

What are Rapido caravans generally like, are they still been made? Is the construction solid, especially that pop roof? How are they regarding their weights. I've seen a 1996 one in the local press at what appears to be a good price, but I haven't considered a pop up before. What's like to raise the roof?

regards

The Rapido was featured on the caravan show on sky the other week, it didnt look too dificult to get the roof up but the making of the wardrobe and bed looked a bit of a challenge

I saw a Morris 1000 pulling a largeish Rapido in Pembrokeshire a couple of years ago so they can`t be too heavy.

Hi,
Rapido comes in 3 flavours -
a)Motor Caravan - still being manufactured by Rapido in France.
b)folding caravans, several models - no longer manufactured - fold up from box trailer to make a sizable van.
c)Pop-tops - 6'3" high with top down - no longer manufactured but looks very much like Trigano Rubis - This is the model I've got - a Rapido T31- got it from e-bay and we've just got back from our second trip to Croatia this year. Its very solid - We tow ours with a T reg Mondeo and the main problem is forgetting that its there! The roof is simple - 2 catches and it goes up about a foot and locks onto the 4 fold up panels that flap up to hold it.
Sometimes available from e-bay (ours was £1500 for a 1991) or from www.campersandleisure.co.uk (who haven't been able to help me with spares however)

Hope this helps,
Come back with any other queries
Regards

Hi dhuwd.

Just found your post, whilst I was looking into Rapido caravans, I was suprised that they are no longer in production, as you see so many Rapido Pop-Tops on the French autoroutes, the one in the photo was spotted in 2012.

I guess the Trigano Silver are the current day equivelent I did look at the Eriba Trolls but they seem to be just over 2m high with the Pop-Top down, which would mean extra charges on the autoroutes.
