Hi brit, just reading about how you got your van stolen, really bad, spose its our sense of humour to cope with loss. We've had a couple of burglarys here only managed to take stuff from the garage, and the insurance didnt cover half of it. Good luck with this new van.

hi.two wheel clamps / hitchlock / large chain through the back leg, bolted to the wall.internal alarm / front of the van, ring bolted to the ground with strong bike wire locks through the chassis / drive post, made my own not hard to do.have another chain to fit on the other rear leg.may not stop them but it sure slows them down    more chance of getting nicked.you can have the van wired to the house alarm on a different key number.this is done by two wires going to the anti tamper side  of your alarm, with a switch in the house.this is plugged into your caravan plug on pins that give a continuous ring.if the plug is unplugged the house alarm goes off.i have the wire diagram somewhere.[:o)]takes 15 minutes to unlock but dont mind.[:D]

Hi

We also had our caravan stolen in may 2005 and had our new one in storage. As our insurer wasn't to happy about us putting it back on the drive.

That was untill we found a new item on the market called the Tight-on hub lock

It replaces the wheel and is one of the only items on the market that will withstand oxy-acetlene (welder) attack

Our caravan   was stolen within minutes of me going to work and it took them all of about 3 minutes to weld the locks off and have it away.

Our caravan insurer is now happy for it to return home and at a cost of between £145.00-£180.00 it has also saved us in storage fees

You can contact them on 01924-264600 or 01924 278887

They will send you all the information on it and even a dvd showing people TRY to weld the lock off.

So give them a call and lets stop the thiefs

Hi Brit

Done all this myself since we had our first van nicked, also have a CCTV camera so we can see who takes the new one, hope it never happens of course, but if it does, then that's us finished with caravanning!!

I also take the jockey wheel off, remove any habitation equipment I can, so if it does go, then they will need to buy lots of bits to go use it, and what a pain that is.

I have a Bulldog Barrier for sale, if any one needs one, double post and vertical bar type, now surplus to requirements but never used, let me know if you are interested before it goes on the free ads. Very heavy, so will need to collect or arrange mutual meeting point.

Cheers

Mick
