Any comments on best Breakdown Insurance?  Especially for Long Stay abroad - i.e. up to 6 months!  Eurotunnel quote an Annual Breakdown Cover for £79 (too good to be true for 6 months I thought?) so phoned them to check.  French person I spoke to said it was for trips up to max of 30 days at a time and they couldn't offer longer....yet just reading it off their website Annual Breakdown Cover - £79 stands alone with no other details - the multi-trip personal insurance below states the 30 days max, but it looks as if they are separate entities.

Best alternative offer to date is £297...now I need to check if that is really for a year or just the period we are out of the country.  Am beginning to wonder if it is worth all the expense and effort :( !

Found one !  CSMA's Britannia Rescue are extending their length of stay in January to 180 days max per trip - at £84.50 for whole year!  Caravan included.  Discounted them before as it was only 90 days ... and we are already members!    Brilliant!

Just the personal travel ins to sort now - nearly there!!!!  Roll on the summer!

Hi reedrider

see you have your cats (he he he) insured through first alernative[;)]

We have got our car insured through my union  "Unison" (Frizell's) and we also got a good deal through them for our Caravan as well.

Seasons best regard to all

Just wondering out of interest more than anything else who are you insured with ? We are with Liverpool Victoria for the car but have been told that our caravan is too old to insure but aren't really that bothered

can't remember if I said before or not Paul + Wendy, contact NFU Insurance , they insured ours and it wasn't dear at £60 a year, pay it on monthly DD, £5 and we never notice it, covered for around £1000 all in which will be enough to get another oldie if the worst ever happens, which we hope not! Really love our old van!

Who did you go with in the end Paul?
We never got round to insuring ours as it has Stoptheft tracking device and we never heard back from them after sending change of ownership details off but after have a certain type of person come and ask us if ours was for sale and checking out security attachments while asking we decided to get a move on..........fast !! We have now had confirmation of new registration after nearly 2 years after a snotty email from me so can go ahead. Only noticed on our last meet this w/end that someone has stolen the status aerial off our caravan, very carefully unscrewed
