I want to replace my caravan oven as the one in this caravan is slow compared to my last one.  Any tips.

Also I just read something about different calorific values of butane/propane and we did switch to the cold weather gas about the time we changed vans.  Would that make a difference?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

This explanation is not technically correct but it makes sense to my little brain. Butane has a higher calorific value than propane which is why the regulator has a lower pressure value. To cope with the lower propane calorific value it is used at a higher pressure and this combination makes propane seem to burm hotter than butane. People will often say their propane burns hotter than the butane and stick with the propane not realising that they are actually burning it at a faster rate.

New caravans though, have a single regulator and I believe that the propane will be burning at a lower pressure and will not seem to be as hot as the butane on the same system. Question is:- "Do you have the new single regulator"?

I`m not sure what you mean about the single regulator. Our caravan is not new as we needed one to change to meet our requirements.  Couldn`t actually find a reasonably priced twin axle with 5 full size beds.

Hence my question about ovens etc as next step is upgrading kitchen.

Thank you for the gas explanation though it does make sense.

Glad the explanation makes sense. New caravans are fitted with one multi purpose regualator.

I'm not too sure about your oven but if it is a standard model then if there is nothing wrong with it, then others here will have had the same problem. Can you let us know what model oven it is?

The only suggestion that I can make is that when gas is burning corectly it will have a blue flame. If it is yellow or has bits of yellow in it then you may have blocked jets.

Its burning OK. My husband`s very fussy about the safety aspects of gas etc and that he did check.

I`ll look tomorrow at what make it is etc as I don`t fancy traipsing out in the snow just now.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
