Hi Briarose,  Wish we could get away soon too, looks like it will be at least June before we can head off.  Looking forward to when OH retires and we can go away anytime.

We leave in all the dishes, pots etc, but take in sleeping bags etc for washing.  I had some Ikea gift vouchers to use so have just bought a double duvet and cover /pillowcases and 4 pillows ( in preparation for when we hopefully get a fixed bed van) , and a lightweight single duvet and cover to use meantime , instead of a sheet, over the cushions when we make up the front double bed.  Read on here that quite a few people use this method, does anyone find the bottom duvet cover causes problems when they turn over while asleep?  I don't see how we could secure it as there is not really anywhere to tuck it in.

   HI Nicki, Our local dealer (harrington's) asked me to remove all personal effect's from the van before it went in for servicing. Suppose this is to allow the guy's doing the work,. more freedom of movement. It might be an idea to speak to your dealer before you load all your stuff back in.?

yep , it`ll be fine , our cushions in all year round. been in today no hint of damp , just a bit cold.

starting to have a sort out and a clean up then in another month or so clean all the water system out and drag it up the drive and test everything , water, waste, electrics, lights etc ready for first trip at start of April.

Hi briarose, we used to have the problem of the bottom sheet moving under us in bed at home. But the OH found some suspender's (down boy's down!!! not that type of sussie's) no these are a piece of elastic about 8in's long with a suspender type clip on each end. 4 of these clipped to the sheet & stretched diagonally under each corner of the mattress should sort the problem out for you!!!

Hi bikermike, that's a good idea, but our cushions are a very tight fit when all arranged to make up the front transverse double, so not sure that we would be able to get the elastics round the corners. Will give it a try.

When (if!! ) we get a fixed bed van I plan to make a couple of fitted sheets for the matress.  Meantime I have got this lightweight duvet as a sort of matress protector for the cushions and a duvet cover instead of a sheet.  We will just have to be sure and keep very still while sleeping!!!

There should be no problem having the upholstery that belongs in the van in place, or even stuff in cupboards (dishes etc) where there is no need for access for servicing.  If you are asked to remove stuff then it may be they are worried about it disappearing while in their care.

The staff at our dealers do not open any cupboards except for taking the damp-check readings as there is nothing in them to service.

But I would not keep any bedding, clothes, towels etc in the van anyway.

One of my local dealers asks for everything to be removed if the van goes in for anything at all, I think it's to avoid any accusations if anything were to go missing.

I use 2 duvets, one under, one over, thick on top in winter, thin on top in summer. I don't have any problem with the underneath one shifting as it's own weight holds it in place. But there is only me, could be different if there were two I suppose. Plus the weight of the dog in his bed anchors it at one corner.  Forgot about him weighing it down.

Hi mo we weren't asked to remove everything when ours went in for service.

I can't wait to be off now if only the days were a little longer I am sure I would love Scotland and also can't wait to try Southern Ireland for us if we don't get away soon the van has to stand quite a bit in Summer due to our seasonal business...............I so wish I could go away all Summer too.
