Hi I have a Compactalite. Its easy to erect, takes about 10-15 mins from start to finish. Its very lightweight. I have never realy used it in bad/windy weather...we were very lucky last year and never had a bad weekend when in the van. Whenever we have used it we always get asked by over caravaners "can we have a look in your awning". We have a new van for this year and I was thinking of putting the Compactalite on ebay later in the year...nothing wrong with it, ,just didn't think we would use it as much this year.

AndyN has one of these. He uses it a lot and says it's quick to erect and does the job well. Unless he's changed his mind since I last saw him a year ago.

I have a Compactlite and have used it in some very windy weather, its a nice light easy awning to put up but you definitely need the storm straps in the bad weather, I would recommend them as a good buy.

Quite right Caz,

Still got it...and it's still doing a fine job.

We were thinking of buying one instead of a full awning, just to dump wellies etc in. We're not sure if one end will have to go against the window though, and that it'll bang away in the night.

Any advice?

We bought one earlier in the year and must say we are delighted with it, B-I-L  was so impressed he bought one.  Very easy to erect and pack away.

Cheers Andy, that's a good angle. Our door is right next to the seating area, as it looks like yours is. With the hinge on the right hand side. It should be ok. We can but try!

My door is just behind the axle (hinge on left). No problem with the door catching the awning or not being able to open properly.

My oh isn't going to be very happy! I have a list of things that I want for the new season, including a Beauclaire BBQ, Mattress Topper and the Compactalite. (All discoveries off this website!)

That's what happens when you buy a new van that's warm and cosy even at the start and end of the season. We deliberately bought a big van to do away with the awning, but I'm fed up of wellies and trainers filling the doorway and the campsite kids always seem to end up in ours. I noticed the price has come down again too.
