I have armed guards for mine, as it is kept on a RAF camp.   Having said that, it wasn't enough for the insurance so I had to buy a hitch lock and a wheel clamp.

I think it depends on how much your van is worth and where you intend to keep it.   Have a look at what others in the storage area are using to get an idea.

Happy caravaning![:)]

LOL Think the armed guard is just a little over the top.

But in saying that nothing seems to much for our new pride and joy.

Cant wait to get out there and make it my own home from home.

Hi, and welcome to the tin tenters. I think that the driving force in deciding what security measures you require for storage (and when out and about) have to be what your insurance company demand. Check with them first as some are very specific. Then beef up your security from what they recommend if you wish.

I'm lucky, like Lady Taz mine is also looked after by armed guards.

Cheers

Mike

hi  ours has, insurance / two wheel locks / hitch lock / two rear legs locked and chained to the wall / drive post / alarm / /// over the top?no,it just slows them down if want to take it.

dont want to spoil your enjoyment of your new van, most insurance companies will insist on a minimum of hitch lock and wheel clamp.some sites will let you use winter wheels, you take off the wheel and fit a large plate to the wheel hub and it sits on this,so if they want it they need a wheel.hope this helps.[:o)]www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.com

there was an item in a cc magazine a while back saying that the only thing that stopped this mans caravan from being stolen was the leg lock.the thieves had cut off the wheel clamp and hitch lock but could not get the leg lock off.this is what saved the van.

after reading this we went out and bought one.it was around £19 from jacksons.worth it eh?

make sure you CRIS register it if and if you are storing for a long period of time has any one ever thought of takeing one of the wheels of and leaving it on bricks the other wheel with a good lock on it. Also what helps if the van is taken is putting some sort of  identificaton mark on the roof

Hi Brian and Lesley
We used to have one of the Rise and lock wheel clamps.          very secure when on the van but they are very heavy to carry and found it very fiddly to fit
regards
Jim
