It might be an idea if you direct that question to the Hobby Owners Club as it is more of a specialised subject. Much as some of us might love one, most of us have to survive on peons wages I'm afraid and can but dream!

It would seem that from comments in the various caravan forums and the reliability survey by the Caravan Club that Hobby vans are very well made. In Germany they come with a lot less standard equipment but this is often added for the UK market. I am not really familiar with their models but I am aware they make caravans in two widths, 2.3 metres wides which can be towed by a normal car and 2.5 metres wide which require a vehicle of over 3500kgs to tow legally in the UK. So don't think you have to worry about quality.

  I think this moderating thing is getting really stupid, all i did was to mention another caravanning website and my postings got deleted, i hope i dont meet any of the so called moderators of this site on a real campsite, why dont you people grow up i would expect this from kids, not from experienced caravanners, this world is full of knowledge and if you lot dont want to learn from a vast amount experienced people in this vanning world then its a sad thing.

I think the hobby is a great caravan but having already had a caravan stolen it would make me a nervous wreck to own one as they do seem to be prefered by caravan thieves .I have heard that this does reflect on the price of insurance also .But if that doesn't bother you well you have got one hellova caravan for the money.

As I understand it though, it's legal to tow a caravan or trailer with a width of up
to 2.3 metres on UK roads. A lot of the Hobbies are 2.5 metres wide and you should tow with a commercial vehicle weighing over 3500kgs.

our inlaws are about to order their hobby, quoted from uk dealer £12,500, shopped around on the internet and have found someone who will import the same model spec etc., uk mods., and will deliver to m25 for £10,000, still concerned for them, any advice or has someone dealt with similar methods?
