Interesting post.  Plenty of views, unfortunately I belong to having to settle for Saturday nights away and really hope the CC don't add any more "seasons" as it is bad enough working out the site fee.

'You can't actually book 2 CC sites at once anymore and I also get really annoyed at people who book, look at the weather than don't turn up almost as much as people who don't turn up for hospital or Doctors appointments.  No shows perhaps should be charged the cancellation when they next turn up at a site as there is very few excuses I can think of not to make a phone call to the warden.

It has taken me over 1 year to get a night at Losehill we had tried mid winter, weekends when the weather was atrocious and still have had to book about 4 weeks in advance.  Will let you know how I get on.

I also personally blame all the older members who are not at work then on new booking day spend the whole day making booking.

Perhaps another way to go is to limit bookings to perhaps 2 bookings per day per member to allow a bit more time for other people.

Where does blame come into it? These older members that you refer too have probably worked all their lives and are entitled to their well earned retirement.

P.S. I am still at work, full time by the way, and I envy them.

re Jana's post ''older people being at home on the Thursday able to book with CC when booking opens'  Was that getting at me?!!!!!  I have better things to do than sit the whole day at a computer trying to make a booking.  What was wrong with booking after work?  The  popular sites I booked   where still available for any weekend the following day,Friday,(apart from Chatsworth's Country Fair Weekend)) so what was wrong with trying Thursday evening.To be honest you could still book most sites over the Christmas period.Our friends managed to get the ones they wanted.Besides when you are retired after working 49 years and still working part-time you are entitled to some perks!! .

If CC made a minmum cost booking, like value of 2 nights, as minimum. Especially at times when we all wish to go away. Or have a one night area for pitching with no hook up and a minimum size pitch. But you would still get occasions when one nighters are limited to a small area, and look around them at a half empty site, and think "What's the fuss"

Just an update- I have had an e mail back from the CC in response to my original complaint and they are reviewing their policy about 1 night bookings at weekends and are thinking of introducing "weekend packages". They have to review it from a marketing point of view and have acknowledged that pitches are being left empty on Fridays and Sundays. Interestingly they also said that all no shows are monitered and logged and in relation to the number of pitch nights there are a relatively small percentage of "no shows".

What about the families who have to get back home on the Sunday to get washing ironing etc done ready for work/school on the Monday. Lets ban them as well. So thats families and the retired banned, whose left then???? 

Even if the Caravan Club bring in "weekend packages" they will not change the existing booking system to suit a very few people.

The main reason I am looking at membership is purely for the cheaper breakdown cover,
