Can anyone out there tell me if they have their caravan insured as an add on to their home insurance poicy?? If so how does this compare with a standalone caravan policy??

Hi Mark I believe that you can only ensure certain contents that you take in the van,, not the actual van itself and very much doubt if it would be insured away from home,,,,,,, Im not taking the chance and going with stand alone ins.

I always had my caravan on my house policy but my insurers stopped doing it last year , crafty beggers never told me until after I had renewed the policy either.

Don't think companies do add ons like they used to (couldn't you just add a caravan to a car policy years ago!).  We got ours through Saga cheaper than CC, only just qualified though on minimum age for Saga!

Come on if we leave now we can make it before it's dark. How many times have we heard that?

We have just insured our caravan through the Caravan Club, it was more expensive than some quotes but for easy and peace of mind we decided to pay that little bit more.  Didn't even try to get it insured through our household policy didn't know this was even a possibility.

Yea, i tried with my Household insurers Abbey National, and they again, will only insure the contents of the van and not the van inteslf.. moreover the guy i spoke to exclaimed "Caaaraaavaaan??" followed by lots of Oooh's and Aaaahh's and Ummmm's before telling me they didnt like it was some new concept he'd never heard of before! Alas, so i went with The Caravan Club instead (like everyone else i was trying to find someone a little cheaper)
