I have just waisted money advertising a vehicle for sale in a newspaper in another County. My downfall was I did not have a copy of the paper to see their conditions, but emaild my advertisement, then phone my credit card details through. Gladly they accepted my add, but did not explain that when the add appears, it is with a different telephone number to the one submitted. In fact it is a premium number at 50p per minute. On checking with them, the excuse is that they vet the callers for security reasons before re-directing them to you. 

Guess what?   Not one phone call, would you phone up a 50p per minute call if you were looking for a car etc., I think not? Rest assured that I will not be supporting that newspaper again.

If this is in the wrong section I apologise, but I think all members need advising of this method of a newspaper earning money off the backs of advertisers, its like a Scam!!

You are probably right in thinking this is not the correct section , but you were also considerate enough, to inform us of your own mis-adventure at the hands of people who have no regards for anybody but themselfs, even though they have the nerve to claim they have publics interest at heart, let this be a lesson to us all and stick to the free ads,
