If you have never purchased a new caravan and are excited by the first impression you receive at a caravan show or a caravan dealership....
Ask the dealer to let you stay in it for a few hours so you can see what it is like to spend actual time inside. This is not a "test drive"; it is a practical way to see if you like what you are going to be spending quality time in...
If you go to a hotel, you can always change rooms if you are not satisfied.
Not the case with your new caravan!
A good manufacturer will accomodate you. After all, they want a satisfied customer AFTER the sale (don't they)

hi there Jim and co.
We tested ours out at the dealers before we got it. They had it parked in a compound round the back and told us it was no problem.
Off we went excited at the prospect of our 1st van. We all got in, me and the hubby and the 2 kids.
Started to have a good play with everything then decided to try the rear transverse bed out for size, unfortunately they neglected to tell us that they hadn't put the corner steadies down so the whole van tipped up!!
Got out of there quick!
We have friends here in the States that were very excited about a new teardrop caravan they had seen at a caravan show and hurried to the dealer to buy one....
After one weekend, they found that it was too small & the bed was very uncomfortable. The dealer would not give them their money back & offered only to credit their money towards another caravan.....
Nothing else the dealer offered met their needs....
This is just a cautionary post; it is expected to "test drive" a new car before buying, but most dealers here in the states will not offer a similar consideration when you are shopping for a caravan

Why not indeed!! I used to (literally) strip down a new cooker in the Gas Board Showrooms (remember them?) just to see how easy it was to clean. Although it was a bit of b&**$$%r when you couldnt get it to fit back together again.
So why cant we test run a van first. In fact, why not use it for the whole weekend? You may never need to buy a caravan ever again...
