Thanks again guys for all your help. We have deceided to leave between 1am and 2. We are going to share the driving, my partner prefers the motorways, I don,t know why she has never towed on a motorway so never has an artic pass her at 70mph.
We have our route planned and will take your advise conqueror 26 and come off onto A30.
Happy Caravanning to you all

Im a bit late as it seems you have made up your mind, but thought I would share our expereince with you anyway!!
We have done the journey twice now and not had a stopover on either of them, its a right slog though,
when we went the first time with our trailer tent we had hardly any sleep as we were all too excited, I finished at work at 9 the eve before our journey and we set off on 3.5 hours sleep - big mistake we were absolutley cream crackered and were fighting each other NOT to drive!!! normally we fight for the wheel - never again!!!
next time we went with our caravan and planned better, luckily we both drive so can take in turns, but this time we prepared well in advance and set off on a full nights sleep!!! and it was a doddle, much better.
so My advise would be set off early by all means, but make sure you have a good amount of sleep before you do, and stop often!! we did and it was no problem it is a long long way.
if we go again we will be making a stop over for a night to break up the journey, now we have a 5 berth and wont need to put up the awning so its more convenient for us!! I have to consider the kids as well its a long way for them to be sat next to each other!! thank heavens for the portable DVD player - best money I have ever spent!!!! oh and the gameboys!!!!
Good luck and drive safely!!

Do whats right and right will become of you ;-) Nichola xx

Hi Kathy
I just did this trip from Huddersfied to St Agnes Cornwall, which is perhaps a similar distance to yours It was no problem doing it one go with stops of course. We left at 7.30am arrived about 5.00pm. Did the same for the return except for leaving at 9.00 since we didn't have to find the house! Do fill up before the motorwasy though....

For an overnight stay I can highly recommend WESTACRES Caravan site & Storage, It's Off / Next to Junction 21 M5
Basic without facilities / shower block, but surrounded by wooded areas. Has usual EHU, Water & disposal, barrier control too. Postcode BS24 7TL

Last year I set off from Durham to head down to Newquay and it took me roughly 10 hours or so, I set off at about 1am and had a break after four hours or so.
As people have said, if your not used to long distance driving you will need to take plenty of stops for rest.
I actually enjoy the night drive, light traffic, good tunes on the radio and you get to see the sunrise (if its not cloudy) its the drive home I hate, nose to tail traffic and everyone in a mad rush to get where they are going............not fun.

I couldnt believe this post has popped up again after 10 years. I had to look back at my comments. We now stop at Blackmore CC site near Malvern. 20 minutes from motorway and a good halfway stop on route to Devon or Cornwall

New road widening road works on BODMIN MOOR will be a total pain in the neck. Travelled down 10 days ago. Already a nightmare. As usual bad timing for summer season.
