Hi my wife and i are about to purchase a new caravan. We have seen the various makes and we like the lunar quasar 525. when i went to see some other vans the other day swift, abbey, and ace we were advised that the lunar vans leak and are seen as the skoda brand compared to other makes. My wife and i like the lunar 525 and it appears to be the only van with a weight our volvo v40 can pull. Please could you advise whats the quality, reliability and build like with the lunar and what is depreciation value  like compared to other caravan makers.

 Hi Jim welcome to ukcs. I can't advise on a Lunar because II've never had one though I do know of someone who has and yes they had to get it fixed under warranty because of damp ingress. If you are worried about them loosing money why not compare the resale value of them to other vans?

We had a Lunar Arriva 4. A 4 berth van the size and weight of a 2 berth. We had it when it was 6yrs old and PX when it was just over 8yrs. We had no damp or leaks in the time we had the van so I would say go for it. Lunars used to be called LEAKY LUNARS but as time and technoligy moved on so did the design and build of Lunars. I like the look and design of the Quasars myself and if I\we had the money that would be our next chioce.

Picked up a New Avondale Dart 510/5S last year and have been very pleased with it. Lightweight for towing compared with lots of others and worth a look.

I did look at the Lunars but they are just that bit wider (than my entrance area) so I went for the old conventional width. (2 " does make a difference)
