you will need the new V5 and either a photocard licence or some other docs, the towsure website has the list of options, or ask at you local motorfactor

A new rear plate should be about £10

but you will need the Origional docs and not photocopys

No problem in Scotland, unless you go to Halfords, any motor factors/shop who supplies number plates does not need ID under Scottish law, been like that for decades! Halfords follow English law so won't let you have one!

If you are getting a new car then get the dealer to supply extra plate as part of the deal! Worked for me last time!  at no extra cost!

Average price around here is £8 with fixings, velcro/stickers/screws your choice!

If your getting your new car from a dealer do as i did and ask for a plate for your Caravan they were very helpful and put new euro plates on the car and one for the van..

we have just had same problem. When we got the caravan we had different car, then we bought another one and went to change the reg plate. They all said they needed the reg papers for our new car, but they have not come back from DVLA yet. Our problem is that we have booked a few weekends away, including Easter and the paper work hasn't come back yet. What we had to do in the end, was go on line and order one. Hopefully we will get the new plate Thursday?

What got me, was that they would not take anything else in place of the reg papers, not even the reciept for the car from a main ford dealer?

I used www.fancyplates.com. All done online and they send the plate out in a couple of days complete with v.good sticky pads.

You can either have a totally standard plate or create one a bit more 'flash'. But I would advise you use the standard uk lettering font as the police frown upon non standard lettering. I have used these a few times with no problems at all.

On the one I've just bought, I put a slogan on the bottom of the plate " If I'm holding you up ...... TUFF! 

Fancy plates don't ask for paperwork etc. Easy and fun.

exactly what I did barry

I said you got a sale if you provide an extra  rear number plate and they did at no cost.

if your old numberplate is of the stick on type and you want to remove it try using a decorators heat gun and that will ease it off for you , but i would leave it on and just cover it with the new one.
