Engineer came to storage last night - the mover looks like it was fitted to close to the wheels to allow to engage properly.  The points where the power-bar connect are now bent from the force we had to use to engage the mover (engineer never suggested any of this was our fault, by the way).  He is getting the new bits it needs and it will definitely be fixed before we next need the van (May Day weekend).

So (like I said before), it was purely the attitude of the first engineer we spoke to that left a bad taste - since we got our (very helpful) dealer on the case, things have been so much better.  Was it so hard to get it right from the first phone call?

So now you know what you know could you tell if it was fitted properly? or give advice to those of us still to go down that road?

Apparantly the rollers should be about 20mm from the caravan wheels when disengaged - ours were less than 15mm!  My advice would be to get the engineer to demonstrate the mover in action, and try it for yourself - engaging and disengaging it takes a little effort, but you shouldn't have to strain to the point of almost rupturing something to do it!!!  The mover we had on the Pathfinder was great, and I'm sure this one will be too once it's mended.  I'm not blaming the engineer who originally fitted the mover - we all have 'off' days!  But PowrTouch could and should have dealt with our problem better when we first rang them.  The mover itself is a great piece of kit.

I have just checked my spacer block and scampi is correct, the block is 20mm thick at the datum faces, our mover is sometimes awkward to engage, but I put it down to the fact that I have the powerbar fitted and also a bit more practice should make it easier. We ordered ours at this years NEC and had it fitted during the first week of March, we have used it once with no problems and I am very pleased with it, my only concern now is when will they have the lightweight alloy rollers ready, as we have the heavy old style rollers at present and were promised the lighter ones at the show, the fitter did mention that they had sold so many movers at the NEC, that they were struggling to meet demand,

best regards, Martin
