Hi, ive now progressed on to a caravan which is sitting proud on my path. But we are having very high winds and im concerned that it may topple. I have an ABI Sprinter450 is their a way of securing it from tipping in the wind or am i worrying for nothing.
am i worrying for nothing? yes and no! the chances are so small so long as the legs are down it will be ok, you should worry more about you van getting hit from anything flying than it toppling over
You could always bung the wife and kids in for extra weight?
But seriously, we used to have our Esprit Flair, (14'), on our front and it wasn't even that level owing to the slant of the front, so it was always listing to starboard and that never once got blown over.
Almost got nicked once, (when hubby had failed to put the hitchlock on!!! A w-h-o-l-e other story), but never any wind damage......so long as you don't count what it had to put up with when I was actually in it.....IBS!
Yes, caravans get blown over, but people also get knocked down crossing the road!
You sometimes see tourers which are kept permanently on exposed sites, chained to the ground, however, the problem there is if they are hit by an exceptional gust of wind, the chassis stays chained to the ground and the body takes off!!!
In theory it could happen, in practice you'd be very very unfortunate.
