Hi Susan, when we got our van in September last year, I only tried towing it 2 days before we went away a the begining of April. Luckily a neighbour of mine who has trailors for carting around racing cars was only to glad to help me hitch up and come for a ride with me to practise towing. We also went to an Industrial estate and I practised reversing and it went really well although my neighbour was very helpful and encouraging. We finally went away 2 days later and I hitched up on my ownm towed it to site and reversed it onto the pitch with no problems. The warden at the site gave me a hand reversing as I told him I was a complete novice. He was really good and walked next to my opened drivers window giving clear steering instructions as i reversed it back onto a little wooden levelling device he had made! When we got back home I reversed it back into it's space on my drive although it took me aout 4 attempts and held up a bus trying to pass but I didn't care, I just concentrated and with the help of my wife who has say 'left a bit & right a bit" I got it back perfect. I got out the car feeling like I had conquered the world! Good luck you'll be ok, just take your time and if it starts to jack-knife round on the back of your car, just drive straight forward to straighten out then try again.
