Hi all , i thought my eyes deceived me today , i saw a Vauxhall Vectra hatch back , old shape , towing a Swift Conqueror 640 twin axle , the miro of the caravan comes in at 1421kg with a mtplm of 1730kg , the Vectra had a kerb weight of 1423kg . Yikes , i bet braking was scary .
It`s also an illegal tow outfit, van must not be more than 100% of the tow vehicle. My Vectra 2.0 DTi `s kerb weight is 1420 kgs and the 85% recomended maximum is 1207 kgs, I currently tow a van with an all up weight of 800 kgs looking for a change but will want a van under 1100kgs MPTMW
We were on a site at the weekend and I am positive I saw a cinquecento with a towbar and a tiny 'van. When I looked again towbar was gone. Perhaps I was seeing things.
saw an audi a4 estate towing a swift, single axle, and the a**e of the car was virtually scraping the floor.the van was well down at the front, looked pretty scary to me. thing is , this was probably legal weight wise but very badly loaded.
We tow a swift anniversary with a 1.9D peugeot partner(which we bought as a car for school run, dogs etc) and its not a very good tower but will have to do till hubby gets new car in September!!Garage and Noth staffs caravans very helpfull.
