We have just switched from TT to caravan - a 1989 2-berth Swift Coronette, but I have some really basic questions.

The caravan has a Vanessa Oven, but the markings have worn off, so I don't know what the heat settings are.  Does anyone know what the top temerature is on it?  I'd hate to cremate everything or take 3 hours to heat a pie, just through ignorance.

Next daft question.  I've figured out that I pull the slatted base out to make the bed (which seems huge!) but is there somewhere obvious to move the top part of the chest of drawers to overnight?  The 2 halves separate, but I can't figure out what to do with the top half as it seems to high to store under the bed, in the aisle.

Finally, the van is in storage at the moment - we pick it up next weekend, but does anyone know what size awning it takes?  I could measure it at the weekend, but wondered if anyone had an idea of the size so that I could price up an awning without waiting.  ok, so I'm impatient.  Can't wait to try out the van :-)

Thanks for your help,

Snowy

Hi Snowy, Ive just bought the same van. The oven controls are off at 2, first mark at 12, second mark at 11, third mark at 10 and high at 9. If you find  a soloution to the drawer prob, let me know, I just put them on the sink but this wouldn't be ideal when the drawers are full. Do you have the instructions for the appliances and power unit as I got none with mine?

Hi Klik

I've been putting the drawers on top of the cupboard just inside the door - I just have to make sure that I don't fill them with anything heavy.  Other people suggested leaving them in place as the bed is large anyway, but I felt happier moving them out of the way.

Thanks for the info on the oven - I ended up buying a thermometer and using that to test the temperature.  I found that on full, the oven reached the equivalent of Gas mark 7 (took a while to heat up though) so we did roast potatoes on our last outing.

I got no paperwork or manuals with the caravan, so figuring things out as we go :-)
