This was the original thread I started in the TT & FC forum, but it was suggested that it be placed here as the teardrop caravan is not as such a folder, just a diddy little thing.

I am ex biker reluctant to give up with a lower spine injury, but I have now ordered a trike to carrying on getting to bike rallies.  Has anyone out there got a CampMaster Trailer Tent (2 or 4 berth).  I want to know more about them, if there worth bothering with.  I could camp (tent wise) but it agrevates my spine.  I am hoping the trailer tent will be a bit comfier and warmer and allow me to carry on rallying.  Anyone got one for sale even?????

However I recieved info about teardrop trailers/caravans and am now looking for a small 2 berth such as the littleguy rascal or similar.  Or plans on how to build one myself.  Any help appreciated. Lets see how this goes.  Not sure what I mean? Have a look at the link.  http://www.teardrops.net/mfgs.html  and just for info it's a 1600cc VW trike thats on order.

Hi There

have you checked out the T at Bs, I believe Billy connally had one for his trike. Its a cross between a nike trainer and a dyson cleaner to look at. Very smart, £6000 new, well worth a look.

Cheers for the info, but it's the £6000 that caught my eye.  Ain't got that sort of money for an occassional toy.  We are keeping the 4x4 and the 2 berth caravan for me n my good lady to have hols with the dogs in the UK.  The mini caravan is to be custom sprayed to match the VW Trike for the bike custom shows and rallies (which I can get to only occassionaly), that way I can camp over at rally fields and not agrevate the lower spine problem which has forced me off the bike and onto a trike.  It is degenerating so cold camping ie my back on the floor under canvas, is out as I don't want to speed up my spine falling apart and don't have the mobility to erect a tent and all that goes with it..  So my better half is putting a price limit on the Teardrop so that she ensures her caravaning time with me.  Does anyone out there have or know someone who has a teardrop trailer.  Ask them to get in on the forum guys and gals.

Hi Two Showers, heard of these a while back when rsearching items related to Thomson Caravans, it appears that even in the 1940's they had similair ideas with a caravan that could be towed using a motorbike!

Managed to persuade my mate who has a joinery company to consider making me one of these (obviously I pay for materials) so’s I can stick it on the back of the trike and carry on rallying.  Contacted NADB as I intend to make the plans available to anyone who can tow legally and has problems camping.  Even discussing with my mate a cost to make basic shell kits with no profit to him (just cover costs)

Have a look at the info on here

Will let you know how we get on.

Cheers Papa Pip, I have seen these but they are almost full size caravans.  The teardrops are very (and I mean VERY) compact. Bed inside, kitchen outside,  But this means that the weight is within legal limits for a trike and in some cases large solo bikes

All help appreciated though, cheers

Thanks for making a newby welcome. But the Nationals is cutting it very fine.  My Trike is due for completion "July" (note the builder did the thing with the fingers when he said "July", you know what I mean, the bending of the first two fingers of each hand like bunnies ears) ((God help me, I've turned into play school)).  I haven't even decided which teardrop plan to try to build.  But mark my words, when it happens I will be available at meetings and rallies to thank each and everyone who has made a new member welcome and you have all given freely your support and advice. Fingers crossed, I'll build the teradrop.

You could use the camptrailer, which could satisfy your as well as your wifes preferences. It combines the very small caravan idea (very much like teardrop) with some tenting aspects. One of the awning type in fact is a dome tent.
Look at http://www.camptrailer.nl/ to get the idea. problem is that it is Dutch and I don't know whether it can be obtained in the UK already, but there is no harm in contacting them.
Seeing the weight I'd say it would do behind a trike, but of course behind a small or larger car too.
