Hi all
Must admit we are pleased with our Eagle L up to now but sorry to hear the stories here.
Don`t you think there are good and bad in anything you buy nowadays. Considering the research we did before choosing our van and then we find out about the cracked panels with previous Avondales!. I think with anything you buy (or made) in this country you are damn lucky to have nothing wrong with it but what do you do? there will always be someone with a good or bad experience. Our previous little Swift was a gem but a friend of mine wouldn`t touch Swift with a barge pole. So you decide on a German built (I think) Hymer and then someone says "no way would I buy a Hymer because......"
Cheers
Steve
Hi Steve, pleased you are happy with your van and hope this remains the same, our problems maifested themselves over the last 12mths, but why should we the British public accept poor quality goods that we have spent our hard earned cash on.I have now convinced myself that our van will develop cracked panels and have been hanging out of the bedroom window even examining the roof! We are still waiting to hear from Avondales director regarding our problems and will keep you informed of his comments and advice.

hi i know this is a late reply but only just got back to pc ive read all the comments about avondale and have to say we had a really bad experience like the other guy on here it was a avondale dartcalled a mayfair a dealers special we had it less than 12 months all damp in the toilet coming up from the bottom we have now changed it for a fleetwood same year 2002 we had to put the extra £800 towards the new van lets just hop this ones ok we have heard some sus reports regarding thier quality i phoned previous owner who said they got rid of it because the beds were too hard lets hope thats the truth the owner of the dart told us they got rid of the dart because it was damp and it was part x ed the dealer was awar of the problem but still sold it on so we were armed with good info good luck with your vans
Hi Angigled
Sorry to hear of the hassle you are having. I hope you resolve it all ok as its ruddy frustrating paying well earned money and getting sub standard goods for it.
Thought it was just us that had grief with everything we buy, fortunately not the van so far (big crossing of fingers).
I did email Avondale with my concerns about the cracking panels and they replied saying no problems at all with the `Bird` range so whether that means this years models or just the panel problems or what??
Do let us know how you get on
Regards
Steve
we have friends who bought an Avondale brand new 4 months ago. It already has had to have repairs done to it as whilst travelling to a site they arrived to find to their utter horror that all the kitchen top cupboards plus panel that they were attached to was on the floor. apparently whilst being built the workman missed the main support strut by an inch so the cupboards were just holding on to the lining
To Maggie51, just for your information the Dart that we had problems with was-wait for it- an Avondale Mayfair 510-5L and guess what, yup you've guessed it the damp we had was in the toilet. With saying all this though it was suspected that the damp was caused by a leak around the toilet header tank possibly around the neck area which would give a damp area all around the tank area.Like I said before though it was completly repaired by the dealer without fuss and after picking it up from repair we went straight away that day to give it in in part exchange, that was last July.
