Hi- I dont think they would on most hardstandings as usualy the gravel top surface is laid on top of compacted hardcore, rock pegs for awnings, yes, but thick wooden poles, even with spikes on would probably damage them. My only suggestion is to take a builders cold chisel with you and with a lump hammer form a hole into the ground, and then tap in the windbreak poles, I am not to sure what the site owner might say though. Perhaps if you parked the van in such a way that it was on the standing but the windbreak was on the grass surround. Kiev
