Was at my local caravan dealers this afternoon, as usual buying stuff I don't need and probably won't use.. but hey, anyway we were putting the kids in the car and glanced around to see someone coming out with his new (to him) caravan. There was a van parked to the side and he looked pleased with himself as he steadily inched passed it o.k. I looked at the wife and said he isn't is he, we shouted, everyone else shouted, and the dealer was running behind him shouting waving a key, needless to say the security barrier was down and the dealer was about to unlock it. Unfortunately he must have had the radio on too loud or something like that, and.....CRUNCH....oops

We were in a rush to get into town before the shops shut and anyway I really don't like to see grown men cry.

He'll never live it down...But it just goes show how excited we are when we pick up our first van. I bet there wasn't a hole deep enough for him to hide in.

I remember watching a caravan manuvere into a pitch a couple of spaces down from me once...the husband was directing and the wife was driving. Neither of them were looking up so they didn`t notice the overhanging branch of the apple tree which ripped a slash down the entire length of the caravan roof.

I think there must have been thirty people yelling at them to stop in half a dozen languages but they didn`t. You should have heard the barny (in English) that they had after though. I`ve never heard anything like it in terms of volume and swearing. It was a cracking new van and they ended up with a tarp slung over it to keep the rain out, and I don`t think they spoke to each other or anyone else on site for days.

I did that in France last year, but it might have been a pear tree.  Tweaked the roof seal a bit, but had no rain for 2 weeks!  Luckily, the van was already booked into Baileys on our return to renew the whole side panel (yes, the same side!)

Thank you thank you thank you, I am slightly reasured by the fact that our first trip out is to the Orchards meet so I know there'll be lots of friendly faces who know and understand how I feel, OH towed it home but I backed it in the drive so I know I can do it, the thing is I have to drive this time because I need to get used to doing it on my own as OH works all the time.

The way I figure is I've got 4 children and another on the way, Hell I'm capable of anything!
