when abs light comes on, and rings are cracked,is normal breaking still alright ?

what do you mean rings are cracked?as a rule when the light comes on you have standard brakes.hard to push on.does not sound safe to drive any distance at all.

I agree, when abs fault light is on, it will revert to standard breaking, and what rings are cracked? im confused with that one!

Is the 'rings that are cracked' the little rings around the word 'ABS' in the warning light? if so, that is just the normal ABS warning light.

sorry, should have put the rings are cracked on driveshaft, its just the garage where i brought the car from is dragging his feet to get repairs done, even though i have had the car only 3 week.

The rings around the shaft joints tell the computer how fast each wheel is turning, if one or more have cracks in them the spaces between the segments are not equal any more and the computer is confused so it switches the ABS function off.

The brakes are perfectly ok to use with full efficiency, just the ABS side of things  inoperative.
