Camping sites have been developed for people, not for animals.   Animals are tolerated to allow people to enjoy a holiday, and not, under any cicumstances, so that those animals may cause annoyance to any other people on site.  Purplehat is quite right in referring to us all enjoying the same level of freedom.

We all pay for the use of one pitch, plus use of the toilet block.  We do not have the right to prevent other campers from having exclusive use of their pitches.  This is why animals must be kept on leashes and under control.   There are no ifs and buts about it.  I often fuss animals (with the owners' permission), but I would not accept those same animals wandering onto my pitch.    Why do some owners have to whinge about how well trained and behaved their animals are, as if this amazing fact allows them to relax the rules.   And subsequent wandering by the animal(s) is proof that the good behaviour is purely imagined.

Bertie.

Yes all animals on a site should be under control . My partner and i have 2 dogs , we always have them on a leash . If we let one of them off ,he would cock his leg on someones awning (not nice) .Some people on a site turn up for a weekend and think their freedom overrides everyone elses . Sometimes they combine throwing a frizzbee for their unleashed dog , 2mm thickness of an aluminium sidewall dents easily . Same goes for kids given WMD (weapons of mass denting ) on a site e.g balls etc

I was camping at Callow top once in ashbourne. I heard this almighty row at about 8am, I stayed in bed for a while trying to make out what it was. Eventually I got up but had to find out what it was it was driving me crazy. Upon investigation I foud it was a parrot. The most beautiful thing think I had seen up close, outside a caravan in its cage. I think the birds were teasing it. Now you could argue it was causing a nuisance but to be honest it was quite funny.

I agree, Chalkie.  As I posted the other day, someone brought an African Grey parrot on hol.  It was mimicking everybody's mobile phones, causing people to answer non-ringing phones, and we all had a good laugh.  I think it's more the physical intrusion, and any consequential damage, that gets people angry (and that includes kids, of course).

Like most, Scuba, I'll bet your dogs pass almost unnoticed on site, simply because they are under control as is the norm.   The tragedy is, your dogs could be prevented from going onto a site (general ban) because of unpleasant experiences with annoying dogs, and arrogant owners.

Amazing, isn't it, how we remember the selfish, "sod you" brigade long after we have forgotten what most of the decent campers even looked like!!!

Bertie.
