My 1988 anniversary model is for sale its the Musketeer with the really nice interior, 5 berth it has done us proud but the kids are growing fast and i need a little more space to hide from them.
Anybody interested let me know it has everything ready to go, i will be sad to see it go though much the same as others on this thread but upgraded the car now to a 4x4 chelsea tractor and am looking at twin axles drop me a line if you are interested.
In earlier years we had a 1963 Sprite Alpine, followed by a 1966 Musketeer. Had many great times with both of them, and they were the only way we could afford family holidays. Unfortunately, our Musketeer got stolen and was never recovered. It wasn't worth much, but we still missed it.
Our Musketeer had a pull-down double bed that could be left made up. I haven't seen one like it since.
Many years went by before we had a caravan again, but we are now rediscovering the fun we had before.

Hi do you know what the awning size is for this van?
TIA:)
Hi Llollipoppi, best way is to use a long piece of string.
Peg the string to the ground immediately below one corner of the van then run the string vertically upwards into the awning channel, follow the channel right round the full length of van and down to the ground again at the other end. Measure the string with your tape in centimeters and you'll have the awning size. Don't expect to find an exact fit, 10 cm either way should be fine. Hope this helps and nice to see an old thread resurected.

I bought a new Musketeer last year after having a motorhome for ten years.Everything is great,it has a ten year damp warranty, the heating is great and the electric pull on the leisure battery is frugal when rallying.I tow with a Vauxhall Insignia and don't know its on the back. Furthermore,a small problem I had after purchase was handled brilliantly by Swift.

Hi Thanks, measured it on got 808cm, just passing the information on for which I assume is the 1990 model.
Seriel plate states model to be sprite musketeer CD but it has sprite musketeer xl on paintwork. Plastic windows, no information etched on windows meaning pre-92. Two DD with a pull out bunk bed above one up back, cassette toilet and carver heater. Gas bottle at front, battery and 240hookup in side compartment. Hope this info is helpful to someone.
Our Musketeer had a pull-down double bed that could be left made up. I haven't seen one like it since.
My first caravan was a 1960 Sprite Alpine which also had the pull down bed. Just had to tie the bedding on in the morning and push it back up to reveal an additional seating area - and it had a proper sprung mattress. All the advantages of a fixed bed in a 12 foot van!!
My parents had a 1966, I think, Musketeer also with the drop down bed. I don't know why they don't do them now as they were as comfy as a modern fixed bed but converted to a dinette by day. The mattress was about 2 foot short and that was made up with the dinette cushion. As it was only under your feet it didn't matter.
The bed in my Musketeer was very comfortable, and just like in Ronni54's Alpine, all we had to do was tie the bedding on and lift it up. It was a full-length normal sprung domestic mattress.
I don't know why they don't offer them today either. So quick and easy to use, and take up very little room in the van during the day.
