Hi Jim,

we have only just started caravanning this year and love it, we bought a dorema sirocco awning and it is great. Before the caravan we had a trailer tent and struggled with the heavy canvas and poles on every erection, umm!. but we have found our awning easy and light and uncomplicated.

We bought some plastic sockets that fix on the canvas against the caravan and fit in the poles, BRILL, I got the awning  on the web, next day delivery £355.00 plus £6 del, from AJM shopping.

Really chuffed with it, it has been used 4 times through very windy and rainy conditions.

Shirley

Hi Jimboiky my advice to you is Shop around. Do you really want a brand new awning and pays hundreds of pounds. There are thousands of caravanners out there who have swaopped their vans and their existing awnings wont fit they know what the second hand value of their awning is, it is not very much. An example would be someone buying a new awning and after 12 months needs another because he has changed his van he paid £500 he would be extremely lucky if he got 125/150 for it. When you find one ask him If you could arrange to meet him somewhere and help you erect it to the van if he is a good caravanner he will say yes - good luck

Oh jimboiky, we could be the answer to each other's prayers....p-l-e-a-s-e p-l-e-a-s-e let your awning size need to be SEVEN i.e. 800-825cm p-l-e-a-s-e coz if you check out the free ads on here you'll see a Dorema just that size on sale under the title Dorema Bargin!!!! I re-posted it on there a couple of weeks ago so you should be able to find it ok. It's almost identical to the new Montana but is a Madison.

I'm keeping everything crossed whihc is mkaing tpyngi vervy tricky.

The awning that came with our Compass had two tears... long ones. Still we're pleased with the van, and the awning goes up ok (although not as easy as our last one) so I popped over to NR yesterday as it's only a few miles away.

They had a look at it, no problem, can put in brand new patches and it will cost just £30 !

I'm please enough with that.

best cheers

Am sorry but who in their right mind would leave a ripped or damage awning in a van to sell as a lot.... we sold an excellent isabella awning a few months ago in great condition.

i think the problem with the awning was they packed it away with some sort of insect in it  moth or ? but that was still in it when we took it out so  beware when packing people  im off to towsure today to look at awnings up  to select asize  ??? maybe if i go alone i wont buy straight away  cos if the wife goes wiv me theres no chance ill get out of shop with credit card intact :)
