we are in the process of selling up and going  full time we have just pulled out with one buyer they were messing us about  but have got another  so will have to wait and see what happens. We are  going to use our daughters address  for post etc  but  we were not going to go on the electrol roll but after reading this thread  thinks we may do. We are looking forward to no more  council tax, water rates ect  we have both worked full time all our lives and are in our late 50s  so if we dont do it now we never will, nearly ever site we go on there is at least one or two  folks  who have gone full time  so roll on

Hey I am really sorry if I have offended anyone. I guess I was letting off some steam.

Save it for the steam rallies.

Full timing is an awful life, Damp muddy fields, watching your wheels sink deeper week by week knowing you're going to have to drag that van out in a few weeks once it has taken root. Frogs in your aquaroll, spiders laying eggs on your tongue while you sleep, huge diseased rats trying to break in so they can chew your ears off during the night. I'm growing an extra nipple on my forehead and doctors say it's due to the extra cosmic rays that penetrate the thin roof and then get trapped inside turning the van into a giant microwave. Truly awful, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

(sorry fellow full-timers, if we don't start putting others off we'll never be able to find a vacant pitch to book in a couple of years)

Since moving into the caravan neither one of us has had flu or even so much as a cold!  Definitely a healthy life!  Less stress also.

Yeah, it all sounds great while your young(ish) fit and healthy, but what happens when you get old and infirm and you've got no house to go back to 'cos you've sold it?

why spend your life worrying about the future, you might not get to old age then what you have missed out on a lifetime of different experiences, still i suppose if you got desperate enough to need a house again you could always pitch up at a local village hall or something and wait for an eviction notice, and get rehoused A'La council after all they couldn't stick an elderly couple on the streets while housing all and sundry from any where else in europe . actually one chap around here did pitch up on a village hall car park, told the authorities he would be moving off in 3 weeks time, result was they didn't think it was worth the legal costs to evict him so they then had to provide water and sanitation facilities apparently, now that is cheap living..

hi out there, my husband and i have reached the twilight zone and are throwing caution to the wind. 58 and 55yrs, we have now done all we wanted to do on the so called ladder of success.  selling our four bedroomed detached and swapping it for a single storey 23ft van that will need to hold all our worldly goods! yes we are selling or giving away everything we own to set off and head for the sunshine, wherever it may be.  we have worked hard like most and brought up six children and find ourselves wondering do we want to carry on working to keep a roof over our heads that we may be able to enjoy perhaps one day a week or shall we give it all up and enjoy the outdoor life seven days a week. well what a decision.

angelart. GO FOR IT I wish we had the courage. To all who are thinking of going full time remember YOUR HOME HAS A GARDEN AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE. What bliss. Good luck to you all. And remember , the council is obliged to house you when you are homeless & too old to manage. LLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOLL.

Some people people buy a static caravan which they use as a base so even if they get old and infirm they have something to fall back on and maintenace is oviously a lot lower.  In additon no worries on whether council tax increases or not.
