Hi all

I just have a few questions that i hope all you good guys could help me with.

Firstly in a few weeks we are taking delivery of a new TWIN AXLE(YIKES).

It is a superbly modified avondale argente 650 with modified this and that for the wifes wheely.

Anyway as i have never towed a twin axle before is there anything i need to be aware of.

Also as my previous van had a mover on it which was superb.Problem is ive been told that movers on twin axles are not as affective is this true???

Cheers neil and ally

Neil,

I have no experience with movers at all, but if you want a mover for positioning the van on a pitch, then do yourself a favour and learn how to reverse and manoeuvre the van with your car. The benefit of reversing a long twin-axle is that it turns slowly, and is therefore more easy to control. I have more hassle reversing our small trailer than I ever have with our Super Sirocco.
Also, ensure your car can cope with the van not just powerwise, but weightwise too!!
Lastly, something I'm always very aware of is the relatively long rear overhang when making a tight and sharp turn.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure!

I tow a long twin axle and I find them much more stable to tow, I have no motor mover I use the car and on the towing front I find them much more stable than single axle vans, just my opinion of course.

Hi david

Barring once i have always had no problems reversing on site. The problem is when it is in storage the spaces are tight and also if i need to bring her home that to is a joke.As there is only myself can move it i would  feel a little safer if there work as good as a single axle.

As for my towcar i was a little concerned (volkswagon caravelle 2.5tdi),but it will have to do until next year.It was no problem at all with the avante 534 so we will see.

Cheers neil and ally
