Hi, just looking for some advice. Do the front poles of the awning just sit on the grass/hardstanding or do they have to be hammerred into the ground, also do the suction cups on the overhead poles need to be pressed hard against the caravan to make a seal or are they just rested against the van.

Hi Gerripet , the awning poles don't need to be hammered into the ground , and the suction cups don't need to be pushed hard against the caravan .

Hi there poles dont go into ground. Suction pads need firm pressure applied to side of caravan when you tension the awing roof poles. (Not to much pressure)

Our awning poles have feet which you can hammer a peg through if required (a good idea in windy weather). At Troutbeck Head CC site in the Easter hols we had gales one night and the awning would definitely have ended up in a big heap if we hadn't had it VERY securely pegged down and firmly braced against the caravan. My advice would be to watch the weather forecast and peg accordingly!
