Hi all

Im up and about now with the caravan, but looking to make life easier.

I've got yellow ramps for levelling caravan but wondered if using the winding up Bulldog style of leveller would be easier, also if anyone could recommend one.

Also does it damage the tyres. I guess there must be an easier way to level the van than chocks and this looks the only way.

If anyone has also designed their own way of doing it i would appreciate the information.

Thanks all

Geoffwales

Hi Geof. We have the yellow lwvellers but also have a rise and clamp. They are good but the unit is quite heavy to put on. We don"t always use it, depends on how Brians knee is. Not sure really which is better.

I recently bought a lockloy aluminium leveller.  Its excellent and much lighter than the bulldog. http://www.milenco.com/leveller.html

Hya Geoff

I always carry a spirit level & a small trolley jack, I pull onto the pitch, level the van front to back using the jockey wheel & my little spirit level on the van gutter across the top of the front windows. I then put my level on the trim running front to back on the low side of the van & using my trolley jack under the axle I lift the van & slide a piece of wood under the tyre to make the unit level.

This has the advantage of me having a jack to use in the event of a puncture. I've needed it twice in 11 years. The wood I carry is several bits of 3X2 & a couple of bits of 5 ply. Al about 9 inches long. You'll find you need the wood in the event of a flat because you can't get the jack under the axle when the tyre is down. You put a bit of the 3X2 in front of the flat tyre & pull the van up on to it, then you can put your little trolley jack under the axle to change the wheel.

My jack came from Halfords, was only about £20 & weighs next to nothing, I'd not be without it.

All the best.
