My wife has solved this problem .She packs so many clothes into the wardrobe that it is hard to get anything out as they are packed in so tight so the hangers cant move.  Coljac

Mine actually have rubber bubbly bits on the underside of the hook, which grip great. The same stuff is on the trouser bar to keep the trousers on without slipping off.

I regret to say that I got mine in Blokker in Holland, but Im sure that the same stuff is available over here. I saw most of the Blokker picnic stuff in Asda before I left!

To keep the clothes on the hanger we use clothes pegs, to keep the hanger on the rail we use metal hooked ones that we have bent the hooks so they are permanantly on the pole, all the other ideas are good ones too and I have to admit to using most of them at one time or another, apart from the plastic drawer one which may be one for future use!

What about "borrowing" some of those looped hangers from a travelodge etc??

I just have to say that I would not condone this behavior tho'
