Hello All, some advice please, i am off to look at a Lunar Sunbeam (circa 1999)tomorrow, the advert states slight attention to floor needed. I have spoken to the seller and they state that someone has overwound one of the stablizers causing a hole in the floor.  Is it worth looking at, can i replace part of the floor.  She only wants £200 for it so it sounds a bargain, my DIY skills are not to bad, any advice would be welcomed.

lol was giong to say at 200 quid its a bargain with no floor at all for a 99 van

as for repair yes it can be repaired i used to work in caravan repairs now in manufacturing ive done it twice not a easy job but not the hardest either

as to weather its worth the money depends on the rest of the van tbh is it dry does it have everything you need

my view isthe value of a van lies with the buyer whats it worth to you?

200 quid is nothing realy if its going to provide you with a few holidays

Some of the clever bods on here will no doubt answer but my thought is if the leg was so overwound that it actually damaged the floor,might it have twisted the frame?

I think I would agree with the above and be very carefull. £200 is very little money, but if the frame is damaged, then the van will be worth next to nothing. I would check very carefully to try and see what has been damaged. If you are certain it is only the floor, then the repair should very much be possible.

A note of caution: If the person has managed to damge the floor 'by winding the steady up too far' then what else have the broken by their ham-fisted and negligent actions. It takes an awfull lot to break a sound floor, IMHO. You might get a bargain or a white elephant, so be very careful. If in any doubt, walk away.

 they probly didnt wind it up properly and bottomed out while towing it

I honestly can't see how someone is going to wind one of the stabilisers up through the floor. It makes me wonder if it's been in some sort of an accident such as the lid of a man hole cover coming up & going through the floor. I've known this to happen with a lorry & fracture the fuel tank so it can happen.

If you want a cheapie, why not go along to a dealer & lay your cards on the table, they've all got one or two cheap ones around & my dealer told me last week that he has to watch what he sells at the lower end because even they have to be sold with some warranty.
