If a caravan has cupboards at the front above the front window instead of just a shelf does this mean the van is genrally a higher spec design? It it just some vans have them and some dont?

It's actually more just the design of the fronts to be honest. Our old Esprit Flair was just a middle of the range van but that did have front cupboards as well as many all along the sides whereas our new Elddis last year, (which is considerably higher spec as it has many, many extras), doesn't have the two at the front at all, which took a bit of getting used to last year.

So, think you'll find the spec doesn't have a lot to do with it. Just gives you two more places to fill up with toot, you're probably not even gonna need!

Just be careful not to overload any overhead lockers though as this can affect the stability of your outift when towing.

If you look at the Swift range it seemed when we had our 2003 Ace that the lower down the model range you were the less likely to get front roof lockers.

A saving on 2 doors etc

Great just that my Dad was saying his van was better spec as had cupboards up front. Will keep on looking anyway for a new van. Going away this week end in our good old faithfull swift corvette maybe for the last time.

our "old" 1985 ish A-line equipe has cupboards above the window at the front so think it's just a manufactures design thing rather than higher spec

 Ours doesn't have cupboards at the front just shelves, the way the van is designed they wouldn't fit in.
