We have recently bought a brand new Sprite Major 6 caravan. It as a blank in place of the radio cd player with all the wiring in place to connect one. My question is can you put a car cd player in (the dealer said we can) and where are the speaker (if any) and where would you put them
I'm the non-techno member of our outfit but have to say that I did notice when we got our new Elddis last year that it is actually just a bog standard car radio/CD player in it! Can't visualize where the speakers are though at the mo and can't look coz it's on it's storage site.
I'd just do like shooie says and contact the maker. Or maybe just go on the Sprite website and see if there's one of those virtual tours of your model or other Sprites and see where their speakers are.
Quite nice having the CD player tbh. Did without one for donkeys years but now love it in this tin tent! Used to just take a portable radio and my personal CD player with it's mini portable speakers if we wanted music. Less to pack now!
We too have a Major 6, I do not think there are speakers installed from standard, if so I cannot find them. Regarding the wires installed behind the blanking plate, I too wondered which wire does what, unfortuatly the wiring diagram in the handbook says nowt either, if you find out or I do please share the information as I am sure others with the same or there equvalent van would also like to know
thx

Ref the wiring, it should be a standard plug, if not get the multi meter out and determine the +ve and -ve. The speakers should be wired in speaker type wiring, they will be concealed for factory fitting of the speakers.
I called the manufacturer who said that yes all the wiring was there and a normal car stereo could be put in. There is the wiring for the speakers but it doesn't include them. They do include the harness for them, but I wouldnt want to have to cut holes in the caravan.
We to have just bought a Major 6 our dealer fitted our CD which was a car player free of charge! he also fitted the speakers in the panel above the window where they cannot be seen, sounds and looks great!
