Hi all.

This may sound a stupid question, but I have just bought a second hand caravan.

It has come with a Dorema awning, that I guess will be 1990's. It has no instructions. When TRYING to put it up I have no idea how to attach the roof poles to the side of the caravan. There were no plastic suckers that came with it. The poles seem to go to a flat end with a hole in it. Could anyone please help or tell me what I need.

Thanks

Ian

Hya NC, we've got a new Dorema awning sitting in our hal waiting for the new van to arrive next friday, our awning came with brackets called quicklocks that clp to the convertor rail on the awning & the roof poles fit into these brackets. Sorry I can't help further but I'm sure some one else ill dive to your rescue. Alternativley give Dorema a call, I found them very helpful people to deal with. The number I have for them is. 01977555215 or on the web www.dorema.co.uk  I'd go for the phone first if I were you, the chap I spoke to was superb.

Hi there Ian and to

49

THEEEEEEE best site on the whole www thingy!

Won't waste time doing the whole thingy coz I just did that on another thread and then me lappy went dimented and I lost the w-h-o-l-e blooming thing!

So, I'll just say, take a squiz on the thread entitled 'New Arrivals...Welcome' ASAP to preserve your sanity! It'll tell ya everything ya need to know about the addiction that is

49

Now we have a Dorema Madison awning and it also has the quick lock gismo's that you describe. Now basically, most awnings go up the same so if you'd like a copy of the instructions, I'd be more than happy to copy ours and bung 'em in snail mail to ya?

The Dorema website is good, but I've yet to see any instructions on how to bung 'em up

My hubby usually lays all the poles out on the ground in their correct places first. Then with the front and side panels OUT we thread the awning through the awning rail with him pulling and me feeding it in, (I sit on me fishing stool for this, just the right height). Once threaded through he actually chucks it on the roof of the van which allows him to start putting up the poles as per the directions on our little booklet thingy. Next he pulls the awning bit over the frame, tightens all the connections to the right length to keep the roof canva, (acrylic), taught, then zips in the front panels and sides before pegging out. I get lumbered with curtain detail

Anyhoo, if you'd like me to copy our instructions, let me know your snail mail address, (best done through webby though by asking him to give you my email addy first, so you can email it to me), and I'll get them off to ya.

But before I go.......next ukcs-anon meeting, coming soon to a pc near you.

My name's hippy chick and I am a ukcs addict..yipeeeeee

Hi there

Thanks for the replys.

The thing is I can't find anything on the awning that looks like the quicklock things that I have seen photos of. There is nothing on the awning itself. Nothing on the caravan and i know the awning has been put up on this caravan.

Thanks

Ian

Ah well! If it's been used with the quicklock thingies, you won't see anything to show this on the side of the caravan! Coz they literally, just go on each time you need 'em. And you won't see them fixed on to any if the poles or canvas either!

Have you actually got the quicklock thingies anywhere in the bags of stuff? Coz if you haven't you can buy them separately anyhoo!

Readily available from either Dorema themselves or any other place that sells awnings and they only cost about £3 each. For a three roof pole one you only 3 so not expensive. Although they only fix on to the canvas not the poles themselves.Just editing this coz my last sentence was a bit misleading, (so unlike me). What I meant to say was that the quick fix thingies fix to the awning, (while it's in the rail), and then the pole goes into the bottom bit of it! Never claimed to be techno!

Gone are the days when you needed to have fixed brackets drilled onto the side of the caravans. These quicklock thingies are brilliant!

Ok Ian, operation awning manual mission accomplished!

Didn't realize there were so-o-o-o-o many pages coz tbh...we've never read the booklet, only taken a squiz at the single paged diagram thingy. Have to say though that it's quite an informative liccle book

Anyhoo, I apologize in advance for it not being done in the proper A5 booklet fomat but as the printer's in arms reach of the computer chair, the copying bit at the top, isn't and so it was more a case of getting the pages copied fast and on both sides, (after realizing we only had one stamp left!), I'm afraid, (bl**dy crutches). So, when you get it, it looks as if it's done like a book but....it's not. You need to have it open as A4. Still makes sense though.

I didn't worry about copying the last two pages though as that was literally only about the warranty which yours is unlikely to still be covered by.

I'm just gonna email you now so you'll be able to email be back with your snail mail addy. But please look out for me ending up in your junk mail thingy coz I've got a hotmail addy and we tend to end up there for first messages

Hope this all makes sense? Coz, frankly....me making any sense at all would be a first!

And I am so-o-o-o-o--o-o pleased that I've been able to actually HELP somebody on here......at lastttttttttttt
