Has anyone rewired a 13 pin plug - the male pins on the caravan. If so, how does one access the rear of the pin-carrier plate to make the connections?.

Are there any screws visible anywhere on it? If not then the cover will either twist off or lever off.

Although there is no apparent join, the back end of a Hella unit does unscrew, as you surmised.
However, the units I have seen on sale in the UK have keyways which allow access from the front - that's why I got "muckin fuddled"
