Hi, apart from the usual kitchen gear + other personal items , try your caravan out and then you can make a list of what you need. Only thing i can think of is do you want a full awning or a porch awning? Hope you have many happy hours of camping in your van.

 Enjoy

Jo

Take it somewhere local as a first trip and you will soon remember things to take on the next visit.

Hi Mi-Mi, congratulations on your first caravan.

We were in the same position as you a couple of months ago, and ours is a 98 model.

You will need a step is there isnt one already provided.  We just bought 2 containers, one for waste and the other for fresh water.  Then we just bought a trolley, that was our mistake as it would have been the same price or a little dearer to buy the aquaroll, as one trolley broke and had to replace it.  You will need a wheel clamp, hitchlock.  Whatever security device your insurance company thinks you need. I got these off ebay.  A stabiliser if you dont already have one on.  We also bought a cover for the front.  If it doesnt have an awning, maybe a porch awning. Thats if you have chairs and things that need to go outside.

The toilet stuff, pink and blue.  We had to buy a battery. Mirrors for the car. Spirit level to get caravan level.

Think thats all apart from all your gear.  I leave lots of towels and tea towels in, plus cutlery, dinner service.  A bit of food, enough for a couple of meals. We also bought a collapsible crate for the dishes, as our sink is small and its easier to use the campsite facilities.  Also if you wash dishes in the caravan sink then it feels like you are always filling the water in the containers.

Hi Mi-mi,

Congratulations on your new caravan

Don't forget fire extinguisher and first aid kit, hopefully you will never need to use either but best to have them for peace of mind.

I second that.  If there was an extinguisher already fitted in you van check its "use by" date. They only have about a 5 year shelf life.  Smoke alarm is good practice as well.

You will soon build up the bits you need, Do you have a gas cylinder? Blue (butame) is good for warm weather use. Red (propane) is what you need if you plan on using the van all year.  Butane does not work below about 4 deg C.

depending on the type of camper you are i personally feel a tin opener and a corkscrew are vital!
