Hi

We are taking the plunge and moving upmarket from our tent to a caravan after too many bad weather experiences and noisy neighbours! We are looking at a Swift Charisma 535 (2004) this weekend and would be really grateful for any thoughts on this model and tips for what to look out for. Parting with so much cash is quite daunting when you are such a novice to caravanning. Please help!

I have a swift Lifestyle which is based on the Charisma.  The only I have found with this caravan is the overhead lockers don't stay up and are always trapping your hand in them.  Make sure they are the metal one that stay open and nor the palstic ones.  Not had any problems with our so far.

I am sure someone kind person will be on soon to tell you the technical stuff to look out for.

Good Luck Kathy

Hi

Are you sure you want to take the plunge into caravanning spending so much dosh? I only spent £400 on mine and its great. I have an old (22 years) swift doublette, which I do a bit of work on every now and then, but otherwise it is great.

Hi, We are mainly happy with the van (Charisma 535). Agree with Touring Mad that the locker hinges are a pain, Swift still insist that they will eventually sort out the problem, we shall see.  The comfort of the bed is perfection. Yes overall we would recommend the van

Hi, as above, we were away with friends a couple of weeks ago, they have a 2005 Charisma (had it from new) and when he was putting the dishes away he had to prop the cupboard doors open, He has adjusted the hinges but the plastic stretches and they are now just as bad. We looked at a Sprite Major 6 and the hinges put me off, and that was before I knew of my friends problems. That aside they do like the van.

Hi Cathy, I am going to give Swift until September to come up with a solution to the hinge problem, we had alternative hinges fitted last December, but were no better. If they do not came up with a solution as they have promised I will take it further. The Caravan Club are also aware of the problem.
