hi all just to let u know we bought our first caravan today a swift challenger 490/5 sel it,s a 92 but it loveley inside better than a lot we looked at we bought it from someone private and it has been well looked after when i asked for advise on damp i did check for it and it did seem to be a little soft in the shower area but the owner did tell us and it wasn,t bad to say it,s 13 year old all the other ones this age had much more damp than this can anyone give me a review on these vans please swift challenger also wher would i get an awning for this thanks julie
I would first sort out the damp in the shower and worry about an awning after. Just search for damp on here and you will get all the help and info you need to sort it.

This site ( classified ads. ) or Ebay( www.ebay.co.uk ) have awnings for sale at good prices. A lot of sites have shower blocks which you can use whilst you are sorting out the damp problem.
It is well worth having an awning, it gives you so much more room.
wellcome to caravaning. like you i was a caravan virgin .I brought a elddis tornado last november and we have had quite a few holidays in our new old van! at the mo we are saving for a newer van (one without a indoor pool ;)..)but we are having a long trip soon . Enjoy caravaning ,i have just found out what i have been missing
i will certainly enjoy it we go camping every year to france and really love it so if i can do the whole camping lark then this will be a doddle i think
I would say any damp is a worry. To say other vans of the same age have more damp in the shower is a cop-out. A well maintained van would have NO DAMP at all, no matter its age, Make sure you get it sorted or your investment will only deteriorate.
Had a major damp prob but repaired the whole wall myself. Quoted over £1000 to get done professionaly.
