IN side park we went lovely scenery on the drive down but for some reason i decided to use the a36 to get ther then we detoured onto the a350..you all with me?  all going well until we hit blandford town centre not sure wher to.stopped ask local shopkeeper said folow the road until you see hill in fron of you....ok sounds simple.......noooooooooo...didnt tell us to turn right and go up middle hill did he...so ok off we went got to top of hill in single lane narrowed road cul-de-sac with a dead end in fron of us.never reversed caravan before let alone down a hill tt was easy this was a new challenge.managed to reverese so far down hill and decided to try to do three point turn with van on back...i know silly manouvere for first time about to complete it  and hear sirens and blue lights appear in rear mirrorspolice officer comes over and says what going on expalin wrong turning and he then was very pleaseant and had an escort all the way to the campsite ...imagine my embarresment when he pulled alongide me in carpark and said enjoy your holiday .....the curtain twitchers were on full patrol....kids thought it was great but a nice copper for a change who was very helpful.

That's a bad area to take a wrong turn in & what a nasty experience for you. Too many hills in & around there for my liking. I spend as little time as possible there with my lorry & never with the caravan.

I would suggest to anyone who has to turn around & finds themselves in an awkward situation. If you can, open a gate into a (DRY GRASS) field & drive in, turn round & come back out again, always remembering to CLOSE the gate after you. I do sometimes find myself down little lanes with the lorry & it's annoying to have to drive several miles to find somewhere to turn but it has to be done.

Rather than attempt a three point turn with the van on, you could always unhitch & with assistance if needed turn the van round then the car & recouple. If you have enough room to try & three point turn you have enough room to pass the van with the car after turning them seperately & carefully to make sure the van doesn't run away.

Yeah don't do what they did on top gear and try a three point turn with the caravan on the back!

we did contemplate the idea of uncoupling the van but was a bit worried as we were right at the top of a hill with at least i would say a 12% gradient little bit to nerver racking for me and the kids were worried that there caravan might run away from them....lesson learned never holiday in blandford again apart from the inside park cos i know where it is lol
